Trident module (updated)

Today is UN International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons. The UN are aiming to achieve a nuclear-weapon-free world. The stakes are high, with Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and threats of nuclear escalation. The UK’s nuclear weapons system, ‘Trident’, is based on the Clyde at Faslane, 25 miles (40.23 km) from Glasgow. It is the only nuclear base for all of Britain’s nuclear weapons.

We have recently updated our ‘Trident’ module – FREE educational materials in Powerpoint/PDF/Word and a short video – a good introduction to the debate around nuclear weapons.
Trident (Powerpoint presentation)
Trident – Teacher’s Notes (PDF)
Trident – Booklet (PDF)(Word)

This course is as objective and balanced as possible, with opportunities for you to develop creative and critical thinking skills. It has been designed around the underlying principle that young people should be encouraged to have knowledgeable debates and opinions about nuclear weapons.
