On Thursday August 1, as part of our ongoing efforts to raise awareness in communities about anti war issues, Peace Education Scotland hosted a screening of ‘Refusing To Kill’ at the Harbour Arts Centre in Irvine.
The film tells the story of people in various parts of the world who have served in the military but have refused to take part in conflicts on moral grounds – known as ‘refuseniks’. The film is comprised of testimonies from such individuals, and makes the watcher question their own stances on such matters.
The screening was followed by a good discussion of the topics raised, and how best to take these lessons on into our own lives and campaigns.
